We are excited to debut the first edition of The Ohio State University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC) Alumni e-newsletter. We hope it will serve as a way to connect and engage CBC alumni both near and far- from alumni updates and announcements to CBC news and events, you'll find it here!

A Note From the Chair
CBC Alumni,
I am pleased to say the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is off to a prosperous fall following an outstanding 2015-16 academic year! Our nearly 1,000 chemistry and biochemistry majors recently completed their first round of midterms and 16 of our graduate students currently hold fellowships. We're also ecstatic to welcome back Dr. Bern Kohler, Professor of Chemistry, to our department. In 2009 Kohler left Columbus for Bozeman, Montana and now seven years later, he's returned to the buckeye state!
Please join me in congratulating CBC's Dr. Christopher Callam and Dr. Caroline Breitenberger for their recent awards. Dr. Callam was awarded the Provost's Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer, and Dr. Breitenberger was awarded the President and Provost's Award for Distinguished Faculty Service. These awards are given out each year to a select individuals around the University - a proud moment for our department.
More recently, we held an Alumni Reception in Philadelphia coinciding with the ACS Conference. We partnered with The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and enjoyed an evening of connecting and learning! View photos from the event here.
Our goal is to engage each of you on a personal level; whether that be connecting you with other alumni or current students, becoming a judge in the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, or working with you on developing Industrial Partnerships and beyond. We want to know how we can help you and how you'd like to help us. So we can work with one another, please fill out this CBC Alumni Survey so we can better understand you!
